Sedulang — a supernatural district

Yes, you're not wrong. Sedulang was created as a district within Kutai (now Kutai Kartanegara) regency, East Kalimantan on 16 July 1999, to anticipate the formation of West Kutai, East Kutai, and Bontang. It was carved out from northern parts of Muara Kaman district, and originally consisted of 6 villages: Sedulang, Menamang Kanan, Menamang Kiri, Sido Mukti, Panca Jaya, and Bunga Jadi. Unfortunately, its creation has been never implemented, and that's why I call it a supernatural district ( kecamatan gaib ), because it never really exists. Here's the link to Regional Regulation Number 18 of 1999 , which has been only published in its digital form on 27 January 2025. Twenty-two years later, this proposal resurfaced again in 2021, but its inclusion of the villages has been expanded into 10: Menamang Kiri, Menamang Kanan, Sedulang, Puan Cepak, Bunga Jadi, Sabintulung, Panca Jaya, Sidomukti, Cipari Makmur, and Teratak.
